The key to smooth legs

product for smooth legs
With the UK heating up my legs need to start coming out so they can get a tiny bit of tan. There is nothing worse though than legs that look like they have been hidden under tights and jeans for the past 6 months so its important to have a routine to ensure they are smooth and have a hint of colour.

The products below are what I use on a daily basis to keep my legs smooth, with my beauty routine starting in the shower:

Dove Gentle Exfoliating Body Wash
A great leg exfoliator is gentle body wash from Dove it's great and gets rid of dead skin with exfoliating sand beads, which smooth away the dead skin it also strengthens your legs moisture barrier. You can purchase this in any supermarket or local drugstore £2.55, 250ml.

Dove Summer Glow Nourishing Lotion
After using the exfoliating body wash, ensure you are completely dry before embarking on this next products the UK's number 1 gradual tanner. Dove's summer glow nourishing lotion will make sure your skin is supple with an even coverage of gradual tanner as if you buy the shimmer version you can be sparkly all day long. You can buy this again at any supermarket or local drugstore for £5.25, 250ml.

Laura Mercier Tarte Au Citron Soufflé Body Creme
Laura Mercier have always produced beautiful moisturisers, I am not what I love more, the thickness and luxurious feel it leaves or the beautiful smell that lingers all day. Recently Laura Mercier have brought out a new scent 'Tarte au Citron' which is is lovely if you like fresh citrus notes. You can buy it here on SALE for £27.

Remember it's not just beauty products that help give you smooth skin, it's drinking lots of water which is probably the number one top tip that I can give you.

Melon oil is the key

liz earle haircare

The other week, I was lucky enough to attend a Liz Earle blogger event, re-launching the Liz Earle Botanical Shine Haircare range which was temporarily removed from the collection due to the key ingredient 'Yangu Oil' no longer available. Instead of just quickly replacing it, the team decided to take the product off the market to ensure it provided the same/even better result.

With the help of James Wong, Ethnobotanist the Kalahari Melon Oil was discovered, and without realising improving  improving the quality of the Botanical Shine Haircare range.

Just like the skincare range, there is one shampoo for all hair types (200ml) like the skin cleanser suitable for dry to oily hair and....everything in between. The Shea butter alongside vitamin E and botanical oils makes it smell divine.

For the next step you have three Botanical Shine Conditioners to choose from fine & oilydry & damaged and normal so you can match to your hair type. I went for the dry and damaged as my hair can get quite dry unfortunately.

Then the Botanical Shine Nourishing hair oil is not only great to keep your hair smelling luscious but also reduces blow drying time by a third - tried and tested. The oil is a little more expensive but it lasts a lot longer than the shampoo and conditioners even at 50ml.

Ok so after the event I did not use the products straight away as I was using up some old ones but my friend who attended the event said she was amazed by how it had made her hair feel so I just had to find out for myself. The verdict: After using all three for a few weeks, I can't actually explain to you how different my hair feels and I am not one who usually uses hair oil but I have been totally converted especially as it smells so good. My hair looks and feels silky and smooth, I didn't notice too much added volume by my hair is quite voluminous anyway. The range it a little pricey but I am sure if you tried this range you won't be going back!

The range starts from £10 and can be purchased from John Lewis.

The rise of the blow dry bar

salon
London is becoming very LA with the rise of blow dry bars, an affordable outlet to achieve perfect hair for an event, night out or just to make you feel pretty darn beautiful! Most London blow dry bars offer them all within 30 mins for around £30.

For me, I don’t usually blow dry my hair at home, I let it naturally dry achieving a slight natural wave, so going to a salon is a real treat.  So with the launch of Anesis Salon blow dry bar, 'Anesis Blow' I just had to try it out. Anesis Salon is situated in the heart of Clapham Common, tucked away just off the park. The salon itself from the outside looks tiny but inside it’s situated over three floors and offers over 100 services through a spa, clinic and salon.

The salon is based on the ground floor and after entering I was made to feel very welcome with a glass of bubbles. After being introduced to my stylist Damien, (who designed the Blow Dry concept for Anesis Blow) I got handed a booklet with 8 on trend looks all of which can be created in under 30 minutes at £30 each – bargain.

There really is an on-trend look for all occasions, the 8 looks consist off a 60s look with lots of volume with a 'Touch of 60s' and ‘Big and Sexy’, a poker straight look 'Sleek Chic' and curly with 'Wave Me Up' and 'Curl Me Classy, Ponytails are also on point with ‘Power Pony and Low Pony 'and to finish it all off a classic plait ‘Go Plait’.

I opted for the ‘Wave Me Up’ style for a classic look with curls just at the ends of my hair for a really celebrity inspired feel. After getting a head massage and washing my locks in a massage chair I was fully relaxed ready to sip my bubbles while my stylist made me look fabulous.

What do you think of my creation? I will be definitely be back very soon…

Afternoon Tea: Mews of Mayfair

With the Royal Baby making the UK love everything British, the Kay family also did something very quintessentially British, with an alfresco Afternoon Tea in london at Mews of Mayfair. This alfresco dining area is hidden down the back street of Mayfair nestled between Elemis and Victoria Secret on New Bond Street and with the sun shining there was no reason not to sit outside especially with heaters and blankets and wanting to show off my new Shade Station Ray Bans – love them!

Although this afternoon tea is served in a very traditional format with the three tiered plates, it has a twist which I liked, you don’t just have the same three types of sandwiches but a salmon poppy-seed bagel, chicken ceaser wrap entwined with traditional sandwiches; scones with delicious homemade strawberry jam and clotted cream and some amazing cakes including green and pink macaroons and Battenberg.

All this talk is making me hungry but I cannot forget the tea, the tea brand is Rare Tea Co which cleanse the palette. We had Earl Grey and a herbal blend but if Tea is not to your fancy you can of course get a glass of Veuve Clicquot.

I am always on the hunt for the best afternoon tea in London and Mews Of Mayfair has definitely hit the spot.

Served between 2.30 - 5pm £32.50 with a glass of bubbles £4.5

Outfit details: Dress, H&M / Sunglasses, Ray Ban, Shade Station / Scarf, Rose & Rose / Coat, H&M
