As you may know, 2015 was my year to start using serums and I feel like they have really improved the smoothness of my skin, my pores and created a clearer complexion. So I thought I would share my three favourites with you lovely lot.

This is from a brand that is not widely know but works on protecting the skins defense system to defend against ageing and as I am getting on in my 20s this is becoming a top priority in my book. This serum has 8 antioxidants and is clinically proven in strengthening the skin barrier, providing protection against everyday elements our skin in put through.
2. REN Instant Beauty Shot

This gel serum has a fab name name, called a 'Beauty Shot'. The magic liquid can be used whenever under makeup or over, it does not matter proving it to be a great handbag essential to ensure your skin in always looking its best - firm, plump and smooth. This is achieved with a mix of Hyaluronans that supercharge the skin for a more youthful appearance.

This is a great treat for jet lag or hungover skin!

Summer cocktails

With the longest day approaching, everyone needs to be taking full advantage of the sun and sitting outside with a cocktail, with a little help from ALDI and Bottle Green we have created some summer inspired cocktails. Each cocktail has one thing in common that they all fruity and refreshing.

Summer Crush
Ingredients:

Serving suggestion: Highball glass

Add the Vodka and Pomegranate & Elderflower cordial to a cocktail shaker and shake it up. Then top with soda water, sprinkle a few pomegranate seeds for decoration and voila a fresh and refreshing summer tipple.

pomegranate cocktail

Pomegranate Punch
Ingredients

  • 25ml Tamova Vodka
  • 20ml Lemon juice
  • 2.5 tsp Sugar
  • Prosecco
  • 3 tsp fresh pomegranate seeds
Serving suggestion: Highball glass
Shake up the vodka, lemon juice, sugar and pomegranate seeds with ice. Before you pour into the highball glass, add ice and then top with your desired sparking wine, the one I am using is Valdobbiadene Prosecco, £7.49 from ALDI. To finalise your masterpiece, add fresh pomegranate seeds to decorate and a lemon zest.

Shooting Star

  • 25ml Tamova Vodka
  • 25ml raspberry juice from fresh raspberries
  • 2.5 tsp sugar
  • Valdobbiadene Prosecco Spumante DOCG
Serving suggestion: Martini glass

There is no shaking for this one! Sprinkle the sugar on the raspberries then squeeze the juice from the raspberries (I used the pulp as well, which in hindsight was not the best idea) and collect in the bottom of your desired glass. Add the vodka and stir to combine. Gently pour the Prosecco into the glass. Decorate with apple slices to perfect a drink suitable for all summer occasions.

Remember drink responsibly

5 Scents Of Summer

summer fragrances
I don't know about you but I am not a 'one perfume' kinda girl, I have an array of different scents and they change with the season so I thought it would be nice to do a round up of my top summer scents that all smell divine.

1. Jo Malone, Peony & Blush Suede Cologne

First up is a brand that every girl should have proudly displayed on their mantel, Jo Malone and Peony & Blush is the perfect summer scent. This fragrance is delicate yet flirty and who in their right mind would not want to smell like peonies with a touch of red apple, jasmine, rose and gillyflower. This fragrance does tug at the purse strings a bit but I think its a worthwhile purchase.
£42, 30ml

2. Crabtree & Evelyn, Parisian Millefleurs Flower Water

Next up is from a classic English brand, Crabtree & Evelyn with an opulent looking bottle, again looking a vision and great for makeup table Instagram photos. This fragrance plays homage to the 18th century taking inspiration from France with strong and vibrant scents of wild flowers contrasting against one another with narcissus, rose, tuberose, violet, french juniper, cypress, bensoin and French Elemi entwining together. This is definitely a night out fragrance, think Ibiza.
£45, 100ml

3. Avon, Cherish - ON SALE

Avon, Cherish is a cheap and cheerful scent next that wont need a credit card. The notes are filled with jasmine sambae and creamy sandalwood creating a sweet fragrance perfect for a work day as it's small enough to keep in your handbag and lasts most of the day!
50ml, £14 on sale for £8

4. Liz Earle, Botanical Essence No. 100

I am loving Liz Earle at the moment, you may have seen my recent haircare post and the fresh, floral fragrance of Botanical Essence No.100 is no different. The essence of the fragrance is to capture the joy of a British flower shop. With notes of damask rose, orange flower and Indian jasmine are gently entwined by the subtle sensuality of cypress, sandalwood and Bourbon vanilla, finished with the light, transcendent clarity of mandarin and bergamot it certainly does the job! This fragrance was originally a limited edition in partnership with the Royal Horticultural Society to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Chelsea Flower Show due to it being a hit it is here to stay and we can not be happier.
£49, 50ml

5. Ghost, Eclipse

Ghost's new summer fragrance is a fruity explosion of notes with sweet bergamot, lemon, mandarin, apple and peach that create smells of a perfect summers day. In contrast, freesia, Lotus Flower, amber, musk and rose ensure add a flirty and sensual character and with the addition of a scented body shimmer that comes with the product, Ghost Eclipse is a perfect date night fragrance.

Summer skincare routine

1.      Cleanser: Tresor Rare Ultimate Pearl Cleansing Revitalizing Mousse

This cleanser is the ultimate luxury product especially with a price tag of $149, usually for me I use around £20 mark. I have been using this product two times a day using circular movement, with something this expensive you want to make sure you use every drop to its full potential. The cleanser has a creamy texture, which foams up to get rid of impurities and makeup making my skin clean and smooth ready for the next steps.

2. Toner: La Roche-Posay, Serozinc

This is a new addition to my cleansing ritual and new to the UK. The Serozinc is a zinc sulfate solution which is targets spot prone/oily skin and currently I am having a break out BOO. This toner has just hit the UK and from being a hit in France it's set to be a big here. This toner is different from usual ones as it's a spray which tightens up pores which is nice and simple and then you just pat away the excess.

3. Serum: Clarins Double Serum

After winning countless awards I just had to try this serum and it did not disappoint! The Clarins Double Serum is made up of 20 plant extracts and has a two phase system to revive skin. After a few weeks of using this baby my skin feels firmer and smoother, I have not really used serums before this year but this is one fab product although not sure how long it will last.

4. Moisturiser:  RMK Skintuner Smoother

This moisturiser has a hidden talent of also exfoliating, taking off a layer of dead skin, that enhances my skins radiance and creates baby bum softness. The moisturiser is infused with RMK‘s staple skincare ingredients: Citrus Aurantium Peel Extract for ultimate skin nourishment and Bilberry Extract, both of which strengthen the skin’s barrier function, it also contains Apricot Extract to soften the skin, while Rosa Fruit Extract restore its native elasticity. Keep in mind you need a good amount of this so dispense around four pumps.

HTC One M9 & Nails

This weekend I was invited by Three UK to have a manicure and test out the new HTC One M9 Smartphone. With my iPhone 5S currently being a bit of a disappointment on the camera and battery front and my contract up in October, it was a great opportunity to see what all the fuss was about and like most ladies I love having my nails done.

The venue at MW Nails was chic, based in Old Spitalfields Market decked out as an aeroplane which would get anyone in the holiday mood, especially as I am heading on my summer vacation soon to visit my little brother Robbie Kay. It was perfect for Three UK with their Feel At Home service that offers free international roaming to 18 destinations, which is great for me because I am a Three UK user :-).

After meeting the other bloggers from Wonderlusting and Jess from Look What I Got I got my hands on the pretty impressive HTC One M9 I had to get to grips with the fact there is no round button that makes it turn on, it's on the side (how cray). After getting my head around the technical aspects I got stuck into the different apps and of course the camera – most of the photos below have been taken on the HTC One M9.

The camera has got some pretty nifty features:
·        Instagram style themes
·        A photobooth frame that takes four photos.
·        A selfie mode, when you show some teeth the camera shoots.

After some nibbles, prosecco and a manicure I was ready to take some nail selfies or 'nailfie'!

The perfect “nail selfie” used the HTC One M9 and a specially prepared Feel at Home selfie-station which had lots of holiday inspired props.

Some top tips to look after your nails in summer from the lovely ladies at MW Nails:

1. Always take a good nail file and cuticle oil when you venture abroad.
2. After a manicure it's best to apply a topcoat one or two days after to keep the shine and to ensure your manicure lasts longer.
3. It's easy to create little patterns on your nails just by using a thin paintbrush, remember to use a contrasting colour.
4. Instead of using a cotton bud to tidy up your nails, use pure acetone from Boots and a thin paintbrush.

Do you have any top nail tips?
