How to choose a new pair of glasses

Whist visiting my brother Robbie Kay in Toronto, Canada, my glasses literally split into two. I am not even sure how this happened I was playing with them while on Skype and boom no more glasses. They were quite old ones from Jai Kudo but they served me well.

It’s hard looking for the perfect pair of glasses I use mine for long distance, such as watching the TV or generally seeing signs that are a few meters away so this was an urgent situation and I only just realised how much I rely on my glasses. Smart Buy Glasses were at hand with 1,000s of pairs of designer glasses, a virtual try on simulator and the prices were pretty insane compared to the high street.
After scrolling through tons of different designs from Versace, Gucci, Ray Ban and Chloe it was a seriously hard choice. You can choose via a multiple of ways from cost, brand and style with aviator, round and even butterfly to have a look at. After whittling my options down to two a Tom Ford design and a Versace I decided to try out the virtual try on simulator which I have not used before (the image below shows the Versace ones). I decided to go for the Tom Ford ones I love my Tom Ford sunglasses and I fell in love with the purple colour and bold frame.

These glasses have a rectangle frame and are priced at £107.95 similar ones on another website are worth nearly £269 and you get 24 month warranty on lenses - what more could you want and I think I look pretty fabulous in my news glasses.

Cure a cold

dont get ill
I have not been ill all summer but with the hottest day of the year happening on Saturday I was out for merely an hour as I felt like poo, a blocked nose, feeling hot and sweaty this week will not be a good week. In light of this I thought I would share some of the products I am using to treat symptoms and boost my immune system.

1. Nelsons Coldenza
This homeopathic remedy brings gentle and soothing relief for cold and flu symptomsFor best results, take immediately at the onset of flu or the early stages of a cold. Nelsons Coldenza has 72 tablets per pack and is priced at £5.51, available from Boots, Holland & Barrett or online at www.nelsonspharmacy.com#Always read the label

2. Nelsons Pollenna
Sometimes you may think you have a summer cold, however it may be hay fever. I first got hay fever at the age of 15 and didn’t realise that it was hay fever at the time. If you suffer from itchy eyes and summertime sniffles and would like a natural alternative, try Nelsons Pollenna to bring gentle relief from the distressing symptoms of hay fever. It comes in a pack containing 72 tablets and costs £5.51 available from Boots, Holland & Barrett or online at www.nelsonspharmacy.com.

3. Ice Lollies with Emergen-C
You can get an extra boost of vitamin C via a more fun and flavourful way; why not make some ice lollies. How did I make them I hear you ask:

  • Empty one sachet of Emergen-C orange into a jug
  • Add 200ml of water and 400ml of pineapple juice
  • Cut four strawberries and distribute evenly in the ice lolly holder
  • Pout in the mixture between each ice lolly holder
  • Leave for 4-6 hours then enjoy a Vit C boosted Lolly.

Stripes + Stripes

gant clothing

GANT is a shop I typically associate with men, the logo was everywhere when I was younger! So when I was offered to pick a shirt to try out the new click and collect service I jumped at the chance

A. To look a bit smarter at work as GANT do lovely shirts that are amazing quality
B. To check out the woman's collection which I have never seen before.

I headed to the store in Richmond upon Thames and was pretty astounded at the level of customer service it was like being at a hotel just surrounded by beautiful clothes. There was comfy chairs, chic interior and I was offered a drink upon arrival. It was safe to say I was loving GANT already! Moving on to the clothes I was shown the shirt I had ordered after picking it out on the website, a silk shirt with blue stripes playing homage to the GANT traditional look and the new A/W collection which is filled with stars and stripes. I was offered to try it on to check the size (size 10 in the photos) and I thought I would do a little fashion show in the fitting room to try out some of the other products from the collection, a pair of shorts (clashing print), a skirt for a more formal work look and a pair of jeans. As I left my shirt was packed in a beautiful gift box to take away.

What are your thoughts on GANT?

This year has had a crazy pollen count and like many of you guys I suffer from hayfever being allergic to not only pollen but hay and grass as well. This has meant I have never needed to mow the grass but on the other hand I have had a number of hellish days this summer. When I first found out I had hayfever at 15 I realised because my eyes had totally closed up from all the gunk, that was quite a hard day at school!

So over the years I have tried a number of ways to wave goodbye to Hayfever and every year I hope it won't come back but as I am stuck with it here are some good product and options to help out:

1. Natural Remedy
Nelsons Pollenna is a natural, homeopathic remedy for hay fever that brings gentle and soothing relief. There are so many different tablets out there so if you want something more natural this is the one for you. It comes in a pack containing 72 tablets and costs £5.51 available from Holland & Barrett or online at Amazon or www.nelsonspharmacy.com

2. Go on holiday
Is it bit of an extravagant option BUT it makes a good excuse for a holiday. The air in the UK is for some reason filled more with pollen compared to any other. I am not sure why but that's the way life goes unfortunately - maybe I should become an expat and live somewhere else.

3. Eye drops & Nasal Spray

Use these when you start to feel the symptoms coming on as I believe they help with all symptoms of hay fever. I just use the boots own brand.

Did someone say Afternoon tea week

Afternoon Tea Week has begun and I thought I would share a fun yet oh so sophisticated afternoon tea in London, 'Childhood Memories' at the Corinthia Hotel London. Childhood memories is the brain child of Sarah Barber the new Head Pastry Chef.
The new menu will transport you back to your childhood with flavours of jaffa cake, bubblegum and snickers, providing a real taste of nostalgia. Not only are the flavours rich and pretty spot on to the real thing but the platter you are given is a thing of beauty being bold and bright.

The afternoon tea is served in the Lobby Lounge in The Corinthia and it's a stunning location and the china you are served with was designed specifically for The Corinthia, it's beautiful, elegant yet features a modern twist - I really wanted to buy it!
So what do you actually get at this afternoon tea, let me enlighten you.

You can start with a glass of bubbles, Laurent-Perrier Brut darling. Then you get to choose a tea, if you know me then I am a fruity tea kinda girl so I went for the Pomegranate Oolong which was a lovely relaxing tea with a rich marriage of flavour.

After drinks are sorted you are brought some finger sandwiches featuring some of the classics you would expect at afternoon tea, each on a different type of artisan bread:

Loch Var Smoked Salmon, Cream Cheese and Chive
Coronation Chicken
Egg Mayonnaise and Watercress Cheese and Piccalilli
Roast Beef and Creamed Horseradish
Severn and Wye Smoked Trout and Cucumber

All I can say is that my plate was empty!

Next a tower of treats arrived with some picture perfect scones featuring at the top of the tower, of the plain and raisin variety. The fancies on offer are:

Snickers
Jaffa Cake
Bubblegum Macaroon
Crunchy Toffee Cream
BFG
Rose Choquette
Strawberries and Cream

Childhood Memories Afternoon Tea is served in The Lobby Lounge until 31st August and is priced from £50 so get booking quick!
