14 home buys from West Elm

West Elm is one of my favourite homeware stores in America I always go in when I am visiting my family in Houston and wish I could ship the whole store to the UK.

There is a branch now in London but its hard to get there but all my prayers have been answered with a store down the road in Kingston upon Thames and I thought I would share 14 of my favourite products from the new store and some snaps.

My Lounge Style & Top high street buys

I have not done much of a house tour yet as it has only just started to come together. Adam and I moved in, in October and with Christmas just round the corner nothing got done except for painting the lounge, even our sofa didn't arrive until just before Christmas Day. Any way I thought now was the time I could start sharing my what I have done with the place and what I still have planned for my lounge.
So the colour of the walls was an off green, not a cute pale green an odd green so I used Farrow & Ball  in Slipper Satin and just a lick of paint transformed the room. For the ceiling I used Farrow & Ball again in All White, keeping your calling a lighter colour will make the room feel bigger and I always like callings to be a pure white, not sure why but just looks better. I decorated my last lounge was quite farmhouse esq and I still wanted to keep that style but with a modern twist.

I started with getting a sofa sorted and I always wanted a fabric, chesterfield style sofa but they were just so expensive and I knew I wanted GREY that was essential and managed to get a pretty good lookalike: Chester from DFS. My other chair took me months to decide on as I wanted something big enough to cuddle up on but not something too crazy. I actually really wanted this velvet pink armchair from Anthropolgie but it cost £££ and they only sold it in america so I ended up finding the Houseology Collection Studded Easy Chair, its big, neautral and looks great with my Anthropologie throw, (they don't sell it anymore but their throws are all so beautiful). I have also added a White Company cushion using 'the chop' method to showcase it. On the 'Chester' (as I like to call it) there is some velvety look cushions in pink and grey from Primark and a fluffy white throw that I got as a gift as Christmas from Robbie Kay for Christmas.

The coffee and side table is an Ikea hack using Vittsjo nest of tables and some gold spray paint, they look so much better don't you think? I have decorated the side table with a lamp from Cox and Cox and a faux floral arrangement from Wayfair, sitting under is a bunch of blankets for when it gets cold in a Zara basket. On the coffee table I have my Jo Malone candle dupe from Aldi in No. 1 and some coffee table books: The Coveteur, Visit Morocco and a colouring book.

The next things I want to do is to put my TV on the wall, get some artwork UP and sort out the fireplace as I am not sue I like it...anyway some other beauties I would like to purchase are below:

A White Christmas

One of my favourite home brands is The White Company, maybe because every product looks like it would work so well in an Instagram photo. So if you want to get my a gift from them I would just love you forever and ever because everything is so beautiful, white and grey - my colour palette.
The_White_Company
So I thought especially with the Black Friday here (FYI 20% at The White Company until 28th November using code AP243) that I would share the decorations that will be adorning my home this Christmas and also some top notch gifts for family and friends.

When buying something from The White Company remember to keep it in the gift box as its just too pretty not to.

I have always wanted one of these to drape over my stairs or a fireplace. The decoration I remember at my parents house was this really cheap plastic green thing with fake holly leaves and I loved it. They have upgraded now and so have I, with this luxurious Eucalyptus & Winterberry Garland and I am thinking of wrapping lights around it to make it that extra bit Christmassy.

These are the perfect gift for little ones, little Edie is going to love these skittles with a soft penguin, monkey, polar bear and elephant for your little one to knock over with a little ball that makes a twinkling noise as it roles. They look so soft and cuddly.

Pretty stationary is on everyone's Christmas list this year and these sentiment pencils with inspiring quotes embossed in silver are a must have and will go perfect in any work space.

As The White Company scents go, Verveine is up there as a favourite, with an uplifting fragrance of verbena with zesty oranges and lemons.  To give your hands and nails a spa like treatment you get some hand wash and moisturising hand and nail cream

It is what any girl would like to find under her Christmas tree, sublime smells to fill her home and with a Lime & Bay scent diffuser, candle and home spray her home will be smelling like a dream in a few spritz.

I am a silver and white gal at heart when in comes to decorating my Christmas Trees and these matte porcelain hearts and stars are just beautiful and you get 6 for £12 which i think is a bargain...hopefully you will see these hanging from my tree next week (if I can get my decorating done

7. Winter Large Candle, £55
Oh hello, I have a brand spanking new dining table and what it needs is a spanking new candle that smells of Christmas on a plate and this Winter candle is the one.

I would like about 20 of these please so I can scatter them all around my tree!

Have you got any gifts you would like from The White Company?

A Pinterest Worthy Kitchen

So last week you may have seen my 'Pinterest worthy Lounge' and now I have compiled a Pinterest worthy kitchen. In my new home the kitchen is one of my favourite rooms, it is already decorated and has the most amazing sink (never thought I would say those words) and it is all in a retro green colour which I just love. There is a downside though, the current owners are taking everything which can possibly move including the washing machine and the fridge freezer, but everything has a silver lining as it means I can browse Pinterest to my heart’s content and create my ideal space.

Let’s start with the two main things I am missing, with the fridge freezer I really want something cream as I am not really a fan of any fridge, why would you want stark white or grey – they are so boring but this cream one from Swan fits in with my retro colour theme too perfectly. Now for the washing machine, at my current house it makes the whole house shake when it’s on so I am on the hunt for the quietest washing machine around which is quite apt as its National Quiet Day today (14th September) and I found the one. The Whirlpool Supreme Care washing machine is my new best friend, with the quietest spin cycle on the market* – yes I did my research and it really is going to change my life. The kitchen is going to be a number one social spot in the house linked to my open plan lounge so this is a really important feature. Whirlpool carried out an ‘annoying noises’ survey of 2000 people, which  revealed that an incredible seven out of every 10 Brits believe their washing machine is either fairly noisy or very noisy, and half believe that constant noises – like a washing machine’s spin cycle – is worse than a sudden loud noise. At least I know my new washing machine won’t annoy me, thanks to its super silent spin, and it looks good too! When life is so busy you need a bit of tranquility and zen in your home(the technology Whirlpool uses in their quietest machine is actually called ZENTechnology™), and even at 1400 RPM spin, the washing machine is quieter than my kettle, you literally can’t hear it. I will be sharing this on my YouTube soon, so keep an eye out.

Once you have the essentials you need somewhere to eat at I have been mmmm’ing and aahhhh’ing over to bench or not to bench for my dining table I also would like some fabric dining seats.

Check out some of my other favourite kitchen pieces below:

* ZENTechnology™ has the lowest noise level on the market. Up to a 10kg load at 1400rpm (status: December 2014)
** Whirlpool has provided the washing machine free of charge to Time2Gossip

Finding the perfect gift for a Friend

I don’t know about you but Christmas Shopping can sometimes be a little bit tiring and blah and I give up and buy something for myself. Sorry, not sorry. I get fed up of hearing the family say ‘I don’t need anything’ or ‘Can I have Money?’ FYI I never give money as a gift! When it comes to buying for your Friend it’s a whole other ball game, it’s another version of yourself as you like the same things. So you’re a basically shopping for yourself…although you don’t keep ALL the gifts, just a few ;-).

When tasked with buying Christmas gifts for a friend, I brought the beautiful Ellie from The Elle Next Door with me. As it’s a friend I wanted to be quite creative with my gifts, no cliché gift cards today, you want to buy your bestie something they will love and that means something – BEST FRIEND OVER HERE!

So Ellie and I headed to a store that literally has everything, Debenhams flagship on Oxford Street. It resembled Santa’s Grotto with all the Christmas decorations and with the #foundit signs, which can always be seen from the corner of your eye, I knew I was in the perfect place. Now although shopping for a friend is more fun, I never said anything about it being easy and Ellie is as indecisive as me, even after roaming through 5 floors of lust worthy products I couldn’t quite decide, on a more positive note our legs got a good workout. Whilst perusing around the store I really wanted to ensure that I stuck with buying creative gifts so I decided that I would split the gifts into categories as there was so many to choose from: Fashion (have you checked out Ellie’s blog she has incredible style so knew whatever I brought she would make look fabulous) Beauty, Accessories and then to explore Home Décor, pass me something rose gold quick!

Tips to buying your friend the perfect gift:

1.    Put their personality into the gift: make a list of everything that reminds you of them e.g. sweet tooth and then match a gift with each trait you have written down.

2.    Bring back the memory: Take a look through your Facebook friendship feed and see if you can get the gift that relates to ‘life moment’. Did they recently get a degree? If so I see a fab coffee table book in their future.

3.    Check their Instagram / Pinterest feed: stalk to your hearts content.

4.    What is missing from their wardrobe: Does your bestie have lots of woolly hats but no fedoras? The answer is simple!

So what did I get Ellie? Ellie and I have pretty similar tastes so some of our gifts actually ended up being the same but I think I found the perfect gifts for her with a two tone fedora hat from J by Jasper Conran, an oversized plaid scarf and an aztec print cardigan by Ben de Lisi from Principles and a few beauty bits but I got them as well so I will go into more detail now about what I received as gifts that I am still swooning over.

gifts
The first gift I opened was me down to a tee, the phrase ‘nailed it’ comes to mind. I have a huge sweet tooth so a selection of milk bottle sweets in milk bottles was perfect and after they are all gone (in a few hours) I can fill the milk bottles with flowers or use them as drinking glasses. Do check out the Sweet Shop range at Debenhams as they have lots of retro sweets which do make the perfect gift for any age.

Next, remember how in Tip 4 I mentioned that someone may have lots of woolly hats, well I may have been talking about myself, totally comfort over style ATM. So when I opened a black fedora hat it automatically became a classic wardrobe staple. Planning on going really chic and wearing it to the airport in a few weeks, I might get mistaken for a celebrity ;-).

As my gifts move into fashion, I fell in love with this patterned wrap from Red Herring which has a retro feel. I wouldn’t normally choose a wrap for myself but I am so glad I got it as a gift as it’s really versatile and keep you looking chic and warm at the same time. I am not going to lie I do wear this at home snuggled on the sofa. Blogger cliché over here now, I love a good statement quote and from recently coming back from my trip Paris this ‘Je Ne Sais Quoi’ tee reminded me of the trip. If you want to pick up one for yourself it’s from the NINE collection by Savannah Miller the whole range is just lush and I am glad I also got a maroon roll neck jumper the detail of a star print on the elbows is just too cute and its made of Alpaca wool which is luxurious and looks great with jeans and heels.

The next two items are from the beauty department in Debenhams, Flowerbomb by Victor and Rolf, this fragrance takes me back as I used to use it when I was at university and to this day I think it’s my fave. The floral scent lingers for ages and strangers always comment and ask what I am wearing also at Debenhams its discounted to £45 for 50ml – I know this because I brought one for Ellie, great minds think alike.

I have been complaining about needing a new mascara for a while as I have a really bad habit of playing with my eyelashes so sometime they fall out (enter crying emoji) so I wanted something to make them look really full and thick and not the fact that some of them are missing and TA DA the Dior Diorshow Black Out mascara provides amazing volume and adds loads to the length. Make sure your try it next time you are in store, you won’t leave the store without it.
