Homeware sale finds

With the sales in full swing I thought I would share my favourite homeward items in the sale. As some of your will know it's nearly been a year since I brought my house and there is still plenty of TLC needed and always new products that can be introduced, especially if they are on sale.

Aren't they beautiful.....

Restaurant of the month: La Tasca

The Restaurant: La Tasca
The Location: Most of the UK
Average price: £25

It's January and T2G suggests heading to La Tasca to get your full of Spanish Tapas.

What to drink
The number one drink in La Tasca is the Sangria and unfortuabtley I am not a fan of the main ingredient 'Red Wine' but La Tasca has a solution 'Cava Sangria'.

A little appetiser to start
To take me all the way to Spain I had some bread with oils and olives - a simple starter, to not get to full so I am all ready for the tapas.

For Tapas it's best to choose between two or three each to share. So between two people we had:
  • Calamares, squid in batter with sea salt - (as an FYI this dish was massive)
  • Potatas Bravas, drizzled in a spicy tomato sauce and roasted garlic mayo.
  • Chicken Wings, in a smokey sauce.
  • Paella Del Dia, which is a smallest potion of the daily paella special.
We also tried the two specials I wasn't sure on the pork as it was too chewy for my liking but the prawns were delish.
  • Roast belly pork with chorizo and a sherry and tomato sauce.
  • Gabas on a skewer, king prawns with garlic and basil.

After all the delicious tapas I was pretty stuffed but as usual I could not resit a dessert. I shared the Fondant de Chocolate with vanilla Madagascan ice cream - which was extremely indulgent and was a lovely finish to the meal

What kind of Tapas do you normally choose?

My First Little Box - December Edition

I love the concept of a little box of surprises appearing at your front door once a month - who wouldn't?!? But....there are quite a few out there and some are quite crappy making it hard to choose.

My Little Box started in Paris and has Paris flair sewn throughout and now in the UK I couldn't resit. December's My Little Box collaborated with acclaimed blogger Fleur De Force and matches Fleur's creative flair.

On opening the cute gift, I am quite excited to delve inside, Christmas has definitely come early. It has to be one of the best monthly gift boxes I have seen by far, with beautiful illustrations, interesting, thoughtful gifts and inspiring thoughts!

So what is actually in this little box, I hear you ask?

  • Cowshed: Wild Cow Invigorating Body Lotion, £18, 100ml
This little beauty is the perfect handbag essential to keep your skin hydrated through  the freezing British weather.

  • L'Occitane: Creme Precieuse Immortelle, £45 for 50ml
This triple action formula is amazing for the winter months as well as sorting out your skin to be younger, firmer and smoother - there is no need to be scared of the cold!

  • My Little Beauty: Lipstick £15
In every Little Box you receive something from there own brand, My Little Beauty. The lipstick in this months box does not fail to disappoint, a vibrant red which has a hint of pink creating the perfect party look!

After trying out all the beauty wonders of My Little Box it's time to get creative with my Christmas presents as My Little Box has you sorted with string, gift tags and cute patterned tape.

And to add a twist of Parisian fashion there is a on-trend head band perfect for the holiday season with a touch of sparkle.

This is the perfect present to give to yourself or a loved one, if you haven't checked them out head over there now: www.mylittlebox.co.uk

To end this post, I leave you with an inspiring thought from My Little Box:

" Top 3 things to do during the winter months:

1. Hibernate for an entire Subday, watching the DVD of your choice.
2. Drink 3 litres of hot chocolate a day
3. Snuggle up all day under a huge blanket "

Restaurant of the month: Zumbura

Zumbura is a humble little Indian restaurant, located on the main square in Clapham Old Town. This is not your normal curry house but instead specialises on the cuisine from the Purab region in North East India.

At Zumbura you get a real authentic experience with authentic Indian food and a few cocktails thrown in on the side. There are only a few options which are broken down into Stews, Grills, Roasts, Fish, Vegatables, Bread and Rice.

We went for a broad selection of dishes which included:

  • Murghi Ka Salan :home-style chicken curry cooked on the bone for a rich sauce £7.5
  • Hari Murghi :chicken marinated in fresh herbs and yoghurt overnight and then roasted £7
  • Machli Ka Salan :pollock fish curry with mustard seeds and fenugreek £8.5
  • ghuggni :black chickpeas braised in onion and mango powder £4.5

To drink:
  • Molly Moo Moo : Stoli Vanilla, Stoli Raspberry, Limoncello, fresh raspberries, apple & passion fruit juice. £7
  • Indian Negroni :Woodford Reserve, Aperol, Antica Formula, Cointreau & Peychaud Bitters. £7

All in all, Zumbura provided an intimate setting to eat food you believed was being served straight from a kitchen all the way over in India. Coupled with stunning cocktails, this small restaurant really gives you the feeling of trying something completely different.
